What F/UTP means

F/UTP adds an overall foil screen to standard twisted pairs. It is a good middle ground where there is some electrical noise but a fully screened cable would be overkill. A screen works best when the whole link, sockets and patch panel included, is screened and earthed. The letters before the slash describe the outer screen and the letters after it the screen on each pair, with U meaning unscreened, F foil and S braid.
