What F/FTP means
F/FTP combines foil around each pair with an overall foil screen, so it guards against interference between the pairs and from the outside world. A screen works best when the whole link, sockets and patch panel included, is screened and earthed. The letters before the slash describe the outer screen and the letters after it the screen on each pair, with U meaning unscreened, F foil and S braid.
