What U/UTP means
U/UTP is the most common construction for patch leads. It has no metal screening, which keeps it light and flexible and means there is no screen to earth. The letters before the slash describe the outer screen and the letters after it the screen on each pair, with U meaning unscreened, F foil and S braid.
