What S/FTP means
S/FTP is the most heavily screened construction: each pair has its own foil and the whole bundle sits inside a braided screen. It suits factories, plant rooms and fast links. To get the full benefit, use screened sockets and patch panels and make sure the screen is earthed. In these codes the letter before the slash is the overall screen and the letter after it is the screen on each pair: U for none, F for foil and S for braid.
