CAT8 Ethernet Cables
33 products
CAT8 ethernet cables for very fast, short links of up to 30m, supporting 25 and 40 Gigabit ethernet. Every cable is fully shielded S/FTP, in nine lengths from 50cm to 20m in black, white, blue and yellow, with low smoke zero halogen jackets on most of the range.
Where CAT8 is used
CAT8 is rated to 2000MHz, four times the bandwidth of CAT6A, but only over short distances. It is designed for links between switches, servers and storage in comms rooms and data centres, where runs are short and speed matters most. It works with all slower ethernet equipment, so a CAT8 lead also carries Gigabit and 10 Gigabit connections.
Do I need CAT8?
For home networks and office desks, CAT6 or CAT6A is the better buy: they cover Gigabit and 10 Gigabit for less money and over longer runs. Choose CAT8 when your switches or servers have 25G or 40G BASE-T ports, or when you want headroom on a short, high speed link. Connect CAT8 to shielded patch panels and sockets so the screen is earthed.
