About OM5 fibre
OM5 has the same 50/125 core as OM3 and OM4 and is made to carry several wavelengths of light at once, known as short wavelength division multiplexing (SWDM). That lets 40 and 100 Gigabit links run over a single duplex pair of fibres instead of the multi-fibre MPO cables those speeds otherwise need.
OM5 works with OM3 and OM4 equipment and performs at least as well as OM4 on standard 10 and 40 Gigabit links, so it is a good choice for new data centre cabling. The lime green jacket makes OM5 easy to pick out in a rack.
