About CAT6 XOver
CAT6 cable is rated to 250MHz. It carries Gigabit Ethernet up to 100m and 10 Gigabit Ethernet over shorter runs of up to around 55m, with better resistance to crosstalk than CAT5e. Crossover wiring lets you connect two computers or two switches directly. Most current equipment detects this automatically, so a crossover lead is mainly needed with older devices.
