Start with the category: CAT5e covers Gigabit networks at the lowest cost, CAT6 adds headroom and supports 10 Gigabit over shorter runs, and CAT6A carries 10 Gigabit over the full 100m for new installations, Wi-Fi 6/7 access points and 10G equipment.

Solid core cable is used for permanent installation runs to faceplates, keystone jacks and patch panels, while stranded cable stays flexible and is used to make patch leads. Choose LSZH (low smoke zero halogen) where low smoke cable is required, and shielded F/UTP or S/FTP cable near sources of electrical interference, terminated with shielded connectors and panels.

Many of our cables state their Euroclass rating under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), such as Eca, Dca or B2ca. Check the class required for the building you are working in. Keep each permanent link within 90m so the full channel, including patch leads, stays within 100m.
