A 5m OM1 lead matches existing 62.5/125 multimode cabling. OM1 handles Gigabit Ethernet to around 275m, but 10 Gigabit only to about 33m, which is why newer networks use OM3 or OM4. At 5m, it reaches between neighbouring racks or from equipment to a wall or floor outlet.
