Where a 1m lead fits
1m is a handy length for connecting equipment to a nearby wall socket or floor box, or linking a router to a switch on the same desk. Allow for the path around desk legs and cable trays, not just the distance between the two ports. Whatever the length, a copper Ethernet link should not exceed 100m from end to end.
