Why violet OM4?
OM3 and OM4 fibre were both originally made with aqua jackets, which made them hard to tell apart in a busy rack. Erika violet, sometimes called heather violet, is now widely used to mark OM4 so the higher grade can be seen at a glance.
The fibre inside is the same 50/125 laser optimised OM4 as our aqua leads, for 10 Gigabit ethernet up to 400m and 40 and 100 Gigabit over shorter links. Violet OM4 connects to aqua OM4 and OM3 cabling, although a mixed link performs to the lower grade.
