10m OS2 LC to ST Fibre Optic Cable Single Mode 9/125 Yellow
OS2 is 9/125 single mode fibre for long-distance links, carrying 1, 10 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet over kilometres rather than hundreds of metres with the right transceivers, and it is used between buildings, in campus backbones and for carrier connections.
This duplex lead has two fibres, one to send and one to receive, so it connects a pair of ports in one go. LC connectors are small push-and-click plugs used on SFP and SFP+ transceivers, switches and high-density patch panels, while sT connectors have a round bayonet fitting that twists to lock, found on many established fibre installations. The connectors have a UPC (ultra physical contact) polish for low back-reflection. The LSZH (low smoke zero halogen) jacket suits offices, data centres and public buildings.
At 10m it can run between cabinets or along a data hall, keeping spare cable to a minimum. Single mode leads need single mode transceivers; they cannot be used with multimode optics.
