USB to serial adapters and cables for connecting RS-232 devices with a 9 pin D connector to USB-A and USB-C ports, including FTDI and Prolific chipset models, dual and quad port converters, and a USB to RJ45 console cable.
Choosing a USB to serial adapter
Most modern computers have no serial port, so a USB to serial adapter is needed for console ports on network equipment, PLCs, tills and test instruments. FTDI chipset adapters are widely supported and preferred by many engineers. Choose USB-C cables for newer laptops. For several serial devices, a dual or quad converter adds two or four RS-232 ports through one USB port, and the USB to RJ45 console cable plugs straight into the console port of a switch or router.
