Choosing a rack PDU
Pick the socket type to suit the equipment: UK sockets for devices with ordinary plugs, and C13 sockets for servers, switches and storage that use C14 to C13 power leads. Horizontal PDUs take 1U of rack space; vertical PDUs mount at the side or rear of the cabinet and leave the rack space free.
Choose the input to match the supply. A UK plug runs from a wall socket at up to 13A, a C14 plug from a UPS or another PDU at up to 10A, and a C20 or 16A commando plug from a 16A supply. Keep the total load of everything connected within the rating of the input.
